Women's Open House

The April 25th Women's Open House, the first on the West Side, was a successful and enjoyable evening.

About 50 women, many of them West Siders, came to hear Janice and Judee Dzigiel from Kent.

Janice and Judee provided an evening of original music, with Janice singing lead vocals and Judee on piano and supporting vocals. The response of the listeners indicated that the music which ranged from highly personal songs of growth and changed to outrageous humor was being warmly received.

For those who are unfamiliar with the Women's Open Houses, these are monthly coffeehousestyle gatherings held in women's homes on the last Saturday of each month. The Open Houses feature entertainment by women performers, and coffee, teas, juice and homemade snacks are available.

The June 27 Open House will present Gail Coleman from North Canton. Doors open at 8 p.m. and music begins at 9 p.m., and a $1 donation is asked at the door for the performer. For location and directions, please call the Hotline at 621-3380.

Cover Contest!!!

HIGH GEAR is pleased to announce a contest for all of the gay community. This contest is as follows-to select from all available entrants each month the art work, photo, or whatever to be used on the next months cover of HIGH GEAR.

This contest is open to all members of the community, amateur and professional. All entries should be suitable for display as we will be holding an art show-Gay Artists of Ohio-in the community center in the Fall of '81.

Where possible, entries should be both topical and seasonal-i.e. a gay Christmas. Each artist may submit as many works as she/he wishes. Black and white reproduces best though color is acceptable.

Entries may be dropped off at HIGH GEAR's offices at 2641 W. 14th St. or mailed to CONTEST, HIGH GEAR, P.O. Box 6177, Cleveland, OH. 44101.
